Last Wednesday Sister Lee worked hard with a couple of her friends to make kimchee for the mission for the year. They had a couple of long tables set up in the church parking lot in order to have enough workspace for the numbers of people involved. Our office elders helped, along with the new Oncheon Sisters team. The first picture is of onions, garlic, and ginger root. Next picture is of little shrimp. Next picture is of the radishes shredded up finely. Lots of red paste is in the batch of kimchee. Sister Lee was given notice that the cabbage would be ruined by the cold weather/freeze we are expected to get this week, so she had to quickly get everything and everyone ready to make the kimchee a week earlier than she originally planned to do. Wednesday night we got a knock at our door and there was an old lady wanting something. Dad went outside to talk to her and found that she and her friend wanted to take the radish tops that were cut off and in the trash. Dad called Sister Lee (because she saves everything and uses it for something). Sister Lee asked if they were poorly dressed and then instructed Dad to give the tops to the women. I think it’s amazing that they knew about the radish tops in the trash (they must have been watching them throughout the day). And it’s amazing how the whole process works!

Preparing for Christmas 2016

I decided to put our Christmas tree in a different spot in the living room this year. We have such good friends back home who shared with us so many fun Christmas ornaments to put on the tree. It made me think how proud Texans are! You would not see this many specific state ornaments from any other state (at least I don’t remember seeing such ornaments from Michigan, before).  Have you had an opportunity to share the Church’s LIGHT the WORLD video?

Elder Whiting speaking at the Oncheon chapel

Elder Whiting spoke in the Oncheon chapel Friday morning which was nice so we could prepare a little bit longer before the meeting began. He had so much great information to share with the missionaries. One thing I remember is that each night before we go to sleep/bed we should ask ourselves: Did I open my mouth to all I saw? Did I teach by the power of the Holy Ghost? Did I give them (the people I met on the street) the best opportunity to use their agency? In both days of mission tour meetings Elder Whiting shared with us his testimony/witness of the Savior. And each day he left a blessing on our missionaries. I asked him about that. First of all, his testimony as a special witness of the Savior (D&C 107:25), he shared some about. Andthe blessing he left. He does not do that each time he goes on a mission tour. Each days blessing was different, I guess according to those in attendance. What a wonderful experience!!Dad and Elder Whiting stayed after to interview missionaries. Sister Whiting and I went home, changed clothes, and went for a walk toward the Seokbulsa temple.
