Last month we had quarterly
interviews with all the missionaries over a two week stretch of time. Dad and I left early in the morning and returned
late at night from a long day, that sometimes starts with finding an unlocked
window in a church building to jump into when the missionaries are running late
and haven’t unlocked the building yet. We have had other surprises like when
one of our elder companionships noticed just how late we were still at their
church building interviewing and brought back dinner that they had made for us
(so sweet of them!!). Because we have to fly when going to Jeju we held
interviews and branch conference, which included a visit to a less active man,
who owns a juice café. We stopped in to
visit and were intrigued with his business combinations for juice drinks that
he shared with us, the décor of his café, and stories of his family. I thought it was funny that when he met me he
mistook me for Sister Morrise, of the Korea Seoul South Mission, just before
they went home (all Americans look alike to him that’s why he thought I was
her). He was very nice. His wife is from Singapore and has returned to
the home of her parents for an extended stay as she is awaiting the birth of
their second child. I guess the
tradition is to stay for a few months after the birth, as well. I would not like being apart as a family for
so long.
Sister George was so excited to
find out that all of us were born in the year of the bunny/rabbit. The animal years rotate every 12 year so
Sister Lee and Sister George are the same age/12 years older than Sister Kim
and me (who are a few days apart in age/same month).
