District Conference - March 2016

Thursday, July 7

Friday evening we took a flight to Jeju for District Conference. In the airport as we were waiting for our plane to arrive we saw this fun piano so Ben sat down and tried to pluck something on it.  Earlier today was BUSY with working on transfers. This transfer period we are trying something new. Usually transfer calls go out on Thursday night but this time we are going to try having them happen on Saturday night. Since the leaders of the church asked us to do away with Transfer Meetings that changed the way our missionaries travel to their new area. With that change we thought having the calls come Saturday night would keep the missionaries focused another day and a half, before the need to pack and mail their luggage to their new area. So Dad had to make the calls while he was so busy with district conference (after our Saturday night adult session).

While we were waiting at the airport to go home after the Jeju District Conference a tourism major university student came up to us asking us to fill out a survey (only for foreigners). He was enthusiastic and said “I have presents!” We filled out the questions and turned them back in to this young man and he gave us each a box/container of hand cream. Look closely at the packaging. It says it is Snail Mucus Hand Cream (listed ingredients state Snail Secretion Filtrate). GROSS!!!

This was earlier in the week when we took the outgoing missionaries to the train station to catch the KTX train (fast train) to Seoul. Ben was in the picture because he is on Spring Break from his school (this week and next week). It is fun and relaxing to have Ben home so he can participate more with the missionaries. If you notice, Sister Morton is in this group that went home this week. Time seems to fly by. I’ll be seeing her again soon when I go back home for Alex’s wedding. Thursday night we spent the night at the Dustin’s apartment, the military couple living in Suseong (about an hour and a half away). Friday morning Ben had a doctor’s appointment with Dr Bae DukSoo, Dad’s counselor in the mission presidency, for Ben’s mission papers. The end of next week is the soonest Ben could get a dentist appointment.
