Elder and Sister Whiting to
come stay at our home for mission tour. They came at a busy time, right
when we had new missionaries arrive the night before so we hustled through our
morning training them and made the assignments to match trainers to trainees
right after lunch. Dad and I had to
leave the AP’s with the new missionaries right after Dad made the assignments,
in order to get to the airport to pick up the Whitings. As soon as we drove
back from the airport we gathered with the zone leaders and the sister training
leaders for a MLCM with the Whitings. That
was a great meeting because Elder Whiting was encouraging the mission leaders
to speak up for what they wanted him to talk about at mission tour meetings,
according to the needs of the missionaries in each of their zones.
Really, he put the responsibility on those leaders. Then, during the actual meeting, when there
was a break at lunchtime, Elder Whiting would pull the zone leaders aside and
ask them if we were touching on the topics they had chosen. We ate dinner with the Whitings at the same
restaurant we/you ate at with the Robinsons (the public relations couple form
Seoul). The funny thing about dessert is the size of the portions; look
at those apples we ate. Look at how small they were! The size of
them reminded me of the movie Big, starring Tom Hanks, when the character ate
those mini corn on the cobs.
